This pad helps for a more comfortable carry when you are lightly dressed - and, with heavier set-ups, it will ease the burden on your shoulder or neck. The natural leather underside also helps to stop the strap slipping from your shoulder (if you are not using our vest - which has those famous shoulder buttons to keep straps in check!)

This pad is available as an optional extra on the Type A listing - so that it can be bought at the same time as buying a Type A strap, or you can buy it here. Please note: the shoulder pad is best suited to the standard length strap but it can be used with the extended strap - when worn across the body.

You can also buy the larger size shoulder pad for the Type B and C here - AND, Also the 'Worn Out West' strap PLEASE MESSAGE US WHICH TYPE OF PAD YOU NEED (Type A or the Type B/C pad or for the 'Worn Out West') THAT YOU WANT

The pad is made of the same superlative quality as the leather used for all our straps.

A note on the snaps we use for the shoulder pad - sourcing the high grade Newey brand snaps -  and, crucially, the press tools to fit them to the leather proved an epic hunt. We also needed to find a sufficient quantity to be confident that we could offer the shoulder pad to anybody who wanted one. Daft 'limited editions' are not our thing. And, of course the bonus with the Newey snaps is that they are nickel plated true vintage - and thus go perfectly with the rest of the nickel plated hardware used on our straps

And a note on snapping the pad onto your Strapateer - Most people seem to go with two loops over a single strand of the leather - and then one loop over the two strands at the buckle. Use two of the three loops on the pad to wrap snugly around the single strand of the leather and one around two strands of the leather strap where the buckle is laid against the pad… The popper loop closest to the embossed Strapateer logo on the shoulder pad is made slightly larger than the other two popper loops on the shoulder pad - so use this larger popper loop to pop over the two strands of the leather nearest the buckle (see picture below)

If you find that the loop that goes over the two strands is tight to fit, dampen the loop and then the leather should stretch quite easily to pop over the leather. Dampening the leather won’t do any harm (it's just like breaking in any leather) and, overall, the pads should then form a nice snug fit all along the strap.
